Jointly held by Hirosaki Univ, JHPS and JRRS.
We are pleased to inform you that the "9th International Conference
on High Level Environmental Radiation Areas - For Understanding Chronic
Low-Dose-Rate Radiation Exposure Health Effects and Social Impacts"
will be held in Hirosaki, Japan from September 24 to 27, 2018. The conference
is one of the chain international conferences successfully held in Brazil
(1977), India (1981), Iran (1990), China (1976), Germany (2000), Japan
(2004), India (2010) and Czech Republic (2014); now with an expanded theme
to cover all environmental existing exposure situations. The Hirosaki University
is pleased to host this conference in cooperation with the International
Committee on High Level Environmental Radiation Areas (ICHLERA).
Hirosaki City is located in the northwestern part of Honshu Island. It is a small beautiful city with a total population of 180,000. The main agricultural crops are apples, and 20% of the total production of apples in Japan are produced in orchards here. Spring in Hirosaki City is well known for the Cherry Blossom Festival held in the park surrounding Hirosaki Castle which has over 2,600 Japanese cherry trees, and every year more than 2 million peoples come from Japan and all over the world to view the beautiful Cherry Blossoms. In particular, the autumn foliage of Hirosaki Park with maples and cherry blossom trees having spectacularly brilliant colors make one experience the deepening shades of autumn. Moreover, Hirosaki City is a university town with four universities including Hirosaki University.
After the nuclear power plant accidents in particular in Fukushima, radiation exposure has become a large concern for general public in particular in Japan. From such circumstances, the importance of natural radiation exposures has been recognized for better understanding of environmental radiation exposures, health effects and social impacts. In fact, the environmental radiation exposures in particular natural radiation can play a major role in the radiation protection system. This conference covers all aspects of environmental radiation, radioactivity and exposures either from natural or man-made sources with special regards to radon and progeny as well as Fukushima issues.
On behalf of the organizing team, we would like to welcome you to Hirosaki
University and the conference in order to have the pleasure of your honorable
presence and share valuable experiences with other world specialists to
be able to better manage universal radiation protection system of workers,
public and environment in the 21st century.
